Apple Garageband is a powerful app for both the Mac and iOS. While somewhat different, they both have features that are extremely powerful. Both apps are free to download, and offer more features via in-app purchases.

Some ways to use Garageband with your music classes:
- Activate a drum loop and use it with your rhythmic/melodic warm-up echoes, scales, and more.
- Create an accompaniment file by recording each part of an ensemble or orchestra piece. You the have full control over the parts students hear by using the track volume controls. You can mute or solo tracks to help students hear how their part fits in with the group.
- Create an accompaniment file to a single-line beginner piece to spice it up.
- Create a drum track or types of harmonic tracks for rehearsal.
